Dilator

After completing therapy for vulvodynia, whether medical or surgical, a large number of patients would still have difficulty resuming vaginal intercourse because of Introital Dyspareunia, secondary to involuntary painful spasmodic contractions of the vaginal muscles -Vaginismus-; hence the importance of vaginal relaxation & desensitization exercises with or without the use of vaginal dilators.

At the DVP Center, patients are taught vulvar-vaginal desensitization exercises, and the gradual use of dilator therapy, prior to the resumption of vaginal intercourse.
