Recently reported disease in young adolescents, characterized by seasonal occurrence of vulvar ulcers.

Signs & Symptoms

Mucocutaneous ulcers of vulva.
Associated viremia symptoms: fever, sore throat, abdominal pain, nausea.
The disease is self limiting: 1-2 wks.
Recurrences are rare.

Epidemiology

Age: young adolescents, pre- or post-menarchal.
Season: virus attacks mostly in fall & winter.

Therapy

Combination of a potent steroid and anesthetic ointments.
